Chess Publisher does not work on WordPress.com

Sorry to say this but both Chess Publisher version 1 and version 2 does not work on the free blog service - WordPress.com.

WordPress.com themselves do not allow iframes which is required for Chess Publisher ver 1 and 2 to work. They state that iframe is not allowed for security reasons. As far as I know, this is the only free blogging service that disallows iframe. Blogger/Blogspot allows it.

Remove headers before pasting

Just trying out a game that one of the members said couldn’t work with version 2.

Hmmm.. it works. I guess you have to remove the headers (red) from the scores before pasting it.

I just found this from doing a random Google Search on my name “Andrew Ooi”.

Andrew created Chess Publisher much to the appreciation of myself along with thousands of other chess bloggers around the world. He’s done a great service to chess and the chess blogosphere - done for the game, not for the money.

The new Chess Publisher is improved. One way is that you can see commentary between the moves.

The main difference as far a functionality goes, is that the site visitor must press the “[Replay Game]” just under the game heading before any moves can be cycled. It took me a while to figure that out. You know, instead of just hitting the buttons to cycle the moves.

Removed ‘Replay’ button from Chess Publisher

One problem with Chess Publisher is the need to press the ‘Replay Game‘ button first. I don’t know about you but I find that quite irritating. People would normally just try to press the play [>] button and expect the pieces to move.

So, I’ve removed the the ‘Replay Game’ button to make it more “user friendly”.

Another change is that if the move text is very long it will now ‘wrap under’ the board. In the older version the space under the diagram is just blank.

The ‘old’ version of the chess publisher is now made available here at this server. Now you can create chess diagrams using whichever version of your choice in one place.

Quick and simple creation but without game comments
